Mark Anthony appointed Associate Professor
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Anthony as Associate Professor at the Center for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS).
Mark Anthony has been a member of the Division of Terrestrial Ecosystem Research since 2024. His research focuses on the ecology and evolution of fungi and their role in forest ecosystems. Using molecular, microbiological, and stable isotope-based approaches, the Fungal Ecology Lab (FEL) investigates how fungal communities drive ecosystem functions such as forest productivity and soil carbon storage. Current FEL research explores the roles of mycorrhizal fungi in tree responses to climate change, the functioning of fungal networks and cross-kingdom interactions with bacteria, and the potential to restore ecosystems using silvicultural techniques. This work advances our understanding of ecosystem resilience under ongoing environmental change.
We warmly congratulate Mark on this significant accomplishment and eagerly anticipate the continued insight, leadership, and expertise he will bring to CeMESS and beyond.
